The 15/60 of December 1958 was the first of BMC’s Farina saloons, with the 1,489cc B-series on a single SU, a four-speed floor change, coil-and-wishbone front suspension, a leaf-sprung rear axle and Girling 9in drums — no discs on either model. It carries the illuminated Wolseley badge in its grille. 24,579 were built at Cowley.
The 16/60 of autumn 1961 has the 1,622cc engine, a slightly longer wheelbase, a wider track and stiffer suspension, lower fins with new tail lamps, rear overriders moved outboard and new brightwork. A Borg-Warner automatic was optional. It ran until April 1971 — 63,082 built. Its twins are the Austin A55 and A60 Cambridge, Morris Oxford V and VI, MG Magnette III and IV and Riley 4/68 and 4/72.
