The VE of October 1967 has an all-new body, with no panels from the VC. The front sheet metal and bonnet came from the American Dart and Valiant, with a convex Australian grille, on a 108in wheelbase. Engines are the 225 slant six and the 273 V8. Every VE has dual-circuit brakes with a tandem master cylinder; power front discs are standard on the V8 and optional on the rest. Models ran from the Valiant and Regal to the VIP, the Safari wagon, the Wayfarer ute and a Dodge ute. 68,688 were built.
The VF of March 1969 is a facelift with four new quarter panels, a new grille and parking lights above the headlamps; the utes kept the VE rear. It brought the Regal 770, the Pacer with a 175bhp 225, and a long-wheelbase VIP. The 318 V8 replaced the 273. The hardtop of September 1969 is a VF from the windscreen pillars forward on an American Dodge Dart rear and floorpan, so its rear glass and seals are its own.
