The ZA Fairlane of March 1967 is built on the XR Falcon, stretched to a 116in wheelbase against the sedan’s 111in, with the 200 six or the 289 V8. The ZB followed the XT, the ZC of July 1969 used the XW’s roof and rear pillars, and the ZD the XY. The ZF of April 1972 is built on the XA and the ZG of November 1973 is nearly the same car. The ZH of May 1976 uses the XC’s centre structure, came only as a V8 and has rear discs as standard.
The ZJ of May 1979 is an XD from the centre pillar forward, with XD doors and four-wheel discs, on a wheelbase 155mm shorter than the ZH. The ZK of March 1982 has the XE’s coil-spring rear, and the ZL of October 1984 the XF’s tail lights. The LTD is longer again: the P5 of 1973 and P6 of 1976 on a 121in wheelbase, then the FC on the ZJ, and the FD and FE after it. Fairlanes came to New Zealand fully built.
