It used the seven-bearing redesign of the 2,912cc C-series — evenly spaced bores with coolant between every cylinder instead of siamesed pairs, and a new Weslake-chambered head — for 125bhp, driving the rear wheels, because the engine was too big and heavy to package transversely. Alex Moulton’s suspension is the best thing about it: Hydrolastic front and rear, interconnected, with the rear rubber springs separated from the fluid displacers and engine-driven hydraulic rams holding the ride height constant whatever the load.
